NEW $14 MILLION EXPANSION AND RENOVATION IN 2017

Stein Eriksen Lodge in Deer Valley is getting started this summer on an expansion and renovation to their Five Star Park City Hotel. These additions are designed to ensure their owners and guests will have the most memorable experience possible. Construction has already begun and the project should be complete at the beginning of 2017-2018 winter ski season.

Vail gets bigger, buys Whistler Blackcomb for $1 billion in a deal that may boost Park City. A deal worth over $1B, The Epic Pass that allows skiers to visit Vail resorts across North America and in Australia could bring more tourists to Utah. Whistler Blackcomb is one of the most iconic mountain resorts in the world, with an incredible history. Once included in the Epic Pass, Park City locals will be able to ski the renowned resorts with the pass from Park City.

In the past five years, Vail was brought into Utah by Talisker Corp. to manage Canyons Resort. After Powdr Corp. failed to renew a lease for Park City Mountain Resort with Talisker and was losing a court battle to overturn that mistake, Vail bought the resort's base facilities for $182

Park City and Deer Valley have become a great destination for outdoor music. Below is a current schedule for the summer's concert locations and venues. Deer Valley Resort has done a great job at booking some big headline bands and popular groups from the not too distant past. Each Wednesday at Deer Valley is the free concert series, starting June 22. The concerts at Newark out at Kimball Junction have really grown in popularity over the last few years. Be sure to get there early and have dinner at Maxwell's and even listen to the music from their outdoor patio.

Summit and Wasatch County property prices rise at a steady market pace in 2015

At the end of the fourth quarter of 2015, the year-end statistics reported by the Park City Board of REALTORS® indicated a slow but consistent annual increase in both the number of closed sales and the median sales price for single family homes, condominiums and vacant lots in Summit and Wasatch Counties. The total dollar volume for 2015 was up 10% over 2014, reaching $1.85 billion, with single family homes sales accounting for the highest dollar volume by property type.

Watch some of the best athletes in the world, flip, spin, race, and crash in the Freestyle Moguls and Aerials competitions. All events are free to the public.

BMW IBSF BOBSLED & SKELETON WORLD CUP

The Utah Olympic Park welcomes bobsled and skeleton athletes from over 20 countries to this World Cup competition. This is the fifth competition in a series of eight World Cup competitions around the world this winter. Free admission for spectators.

The highly anticipated Quicksilver Gondola was installed this summer and is now open! The connection between Park City Mountain Resort and Canyons creates the biggest ski resort in the United States, offering 40 lifts, 314 runs and 7,300 acres of skiable terrain.

We took a couple laps on Friday and we would have to say the new gondola connection is pretty cool. The views are amazing and its surprising how quick you can get to the gondola from the Park City side. A simple quick ride up the Crescent chairlift, then down to the bottom of Silverlode, which is the home of the gondola’s Park City side base.

These are exciting times to be in Deer Valley and Park City, Utah. Deer Valley Resort® has been a long time top ranking ski resort in SKI magazines reader’s polls and many other ski publications. Park city ski resort is moving along quite well with their $50 million of improvements for the upcoming 2015/2016 ski season. Shown above you can see the new trail map that shows the two combined resorts. Park City Mountain Resort and Canyons Resort have now been combined to become Park City Mountain. The new resort will now be the largest ski resort in the country.

The most significant of all the changes and upgrades being completed this summer is the installation of the new Quicksilver gondola. This new gondola is the integral link that will connect both resorts into one giant resort. In the photo below you can see the location of the base of the popular Silverlode chairlift at Park City
