Excavations began last year and have been in full swing in preparation for the grand opening this ski season. The planning and building stages of Woodward have blossomed into a full-scale, massive adventure and action park that will draw families and athletes from near and far. It wasn't too long ago when Labor Day weekend signaled the true end of summer in Park City with the Miners’ Day celebrations being the last real event until the ski season. In recent years, our mountain resort town has evolved into a year-round mecca for activities and events. We are seeing the shortening of the fall shoulder season with the Park Silly Sunday Market continuing into summer and a host of new offerings to keep locals and visitors entertained. The weekend of September 13 is shaping up to be no exception with the annual Autumn Aloft hot air balloon festival and the inaugural Park City Songwriter Festival. The hills will come alive with music, vibrant balloons, and splendid fall colors.

Could Park City actually have two new ski resort villages in the works? Last week, there was much discussion about significant plans for both the Mayflower/Jordanelle side of Deer Valley and the Snow Park base area.
As we have recently reported, the Jordanelle area is booming. And it’s more than just real estate development. Last week, New York City-based developer Extell Development Company announced it will build the first major, full-service ski resort in America since 1980. Located adjacent to Deer Valley Resort on the Jordanelle side, Mayflower Mountain Resort may be operating as soon as the 2021 ski season.
Mayflower Mountain Resort is an ambitious plan to develop 5,600 acres that are just west of U.S. 40 and Jordanelle Reservoir.
