 Miners' Day Parade

While all good things come to an end, luckily here in Park City, we say goodbye to summer with a bang. Every year, the Park City community celebrates its mining heritage that began over 100 years ago. Miners’ Day is a festive opportunity to come together with friends and family and enjoy some food, fun, and sunshine. Here’s what you can look forward to on September 2nd!

Start your Miners’ Day with a free hearty breakfast in City Park, graciously provided by Saint Mary’s Catholic Church. Fill up on pancakes, eggs, hash browns and more! Breakfast will be served from 7:30 am to 9:30 am.

For those who enjoy a cardio kick, the Miners’ Day Bark City 5k begins at 8 am with registration opening at 7 am. The annual 5k donates 100% of proceeds to local community causes. So bring a costume, bring your pup, or just bring your favorite running shoes to join along in the fun.

After the run, head to Main Street to experience the Running of the Balls! Modeled after the famous bull running in Spain, the Running of the Balls includes much safer and family-friendly racers: 10,000 yellow tennis balls. “Adopt” a yellow ball for $5 and see if your lucky pick wins the race down the hill. The champs of the race will win ski passes, dinners, and other fun prizes!

When the bouncy chaos of the Running the Balls subsides, the parade will begin at 11 am. The Miners Day Parade will march down Main Street, proceed along Park Ave. and then end in City Park. Snag a spot along the curb to experience this century-old tradition with marching bands, local floats, music, and more!

After all the fun, it’s time to eat! This year, enjoy Food Trucks in the City after the Miners’ Day Parade. From 11:30 am to 2 pm, choose from delicious local options like fresh lobster rolls, wood fire pizza, sushi burritos, and more.

As if Miners’ Day hasn’t provided enough excitement already, there is family fun all afternoon in City Park. If bouncy houses, climbing walls, face painting, and cotton candy sound interesting, you’ll definitely want to bring the kids by for an afternoon of adventure. More in the mood for some R&R? Head over to the City Park hillside for live music and listen to tunes by Jake and the Heist at noon and The Electric Moose Band at 3 pm.

At 2 pm, experience Park City’s mining heritage at the Mucking and Drilling contest. Park City was once a rich, silver mining town. Outdated tools were eventually replaced by modern mucking and drilling machinery. These timed, energetic events are free to the public in City Park next to the skate park. Come early to grab a bleacher seat before it fills up!

Miners’ Day closes with the annual Skateboard Bowl Jam at 3 pm. Amateur and pro skaters alike will show off their skills to both the crowd and judges. Come watch or register yourself to win some amazing prize packages. Live tracks provided by DJ Cosmos!

Whether you stop by for the parade or stay the whole day, make the most of the end of summer! Thanks to the Park City Rotary Club, the Miners’ Day festivities wouldn’t go on. No matter what time of year it is, Park City is a pretty amazing place to call home.
