Park City, Utah - October 24, 2013 – Park City real estate is building momentum in 2013. To date every month of 2013 has had a higher number of closed sales than in the same month last year, according to data released by the Park City Board of REALTORS®. The number of sales for the entire Park City market area, reached 1,668 in quarter three—that is 26% over last year’s number. With a total sales dollar volume reaching $1.19 billion, the third quarter of 2013 is up 34% compared to last year as well. After the real estate meltdown, we had been experiencing a lot of difficulty with financing for our ski town condo properties. We were often unable to find financing for our clients looking to purchase condo-hotel properties. The problem with that was that so many condominium developments here in Park City and Deer Valley fell into the condo-hotel classification. This has been a problem found in many resort markets. All Three Park City Resorts in the Top Ten!

The most prominent ski resort rankings for 2014 are out. This week SKI Magazine released the results of it's annual reader survey that ranks North America's ski resorts in a variety of categories, from snow and grooming to off-hill activities. All three of Park City's ski resorts placed in the top 10. Deer Valley is No. 2, Park City Mountain Resort is No. 5 and Canyons is No. 10. Last year was the first in which Deer Valley, PCMR and Canyons all finished in the top 10 overall in the West and that feat is turning into a trend.

Sundance will no longer conflict with MLK holiday through 2026

Park City leaders and the organizers of the Sundance Film Festival finalized an agreement to keep the top domestic marketplace of independent films in Park City Utah through at least 2026, crafting a deal that won support from the tourism industry in addition to City Hall and the festival. The agreement starts with the 2014 festival, scheduled this upcoming January, and includes an out option for the final three years, which could allow the festival to relocate after 2023. Sundance will keep its Utah offices at the Silver Star ski-in, ski-out development through at least 2023. Both sides worked for months on the deal, almost exclusively in private meetings.

Construction has begun on a brand new real estate development in the Silver Lake area of Upper Deer Valley. The project has long been referred to as North Silver Lake, but will now be named the Stein Eriksen Residences. The developer, Regent Properties, has recently restarted construction of the infrastructure and a model home. The new development will include a mix of homes and condos for sale, situated at the intersection of Deer Valley Resort's "Last Chance" and "Silver Dollar" ski runs.
