It’s been six long years since Deer Valley held the No.1 spot on Ski Magazine's Resort guide - “Best in the West” list. Well that has now changed as Deer Valley has reclaimed the coveted top spot.

For the resort’s many return visitors, the Deer Valley experience itself is much like that of a cherished sweater: Comfortable. Familiar. Welcoming. “Deer Valley is the ‘easy button’ of ski resorts,” chimes one Ski Magazine reader. “All-around outstanding resort,” says another. This season, however, the longtime-family-owned resort ventures away from the familiar as it’s acquired by a new entity controlled by KSL Partners and the owners of Aspen Ski Company. Can it retain its Deer Valley-ness? We believe so. Because that’s what sets it apart from other resorts.…

The highly anticipated Quicksilver Gondola was installed this summer and is now open! The connection between Park City Mountain Resort and Canyons creates the biggest ski resort in the United States, offering 40 lifts, 314 runs and 7,300 acres of skiable terrain.

We took a couple laps on Friday and we would have to say the new gondola connection is pretty cool. The views are amazing and its surprising how quick you can get to the gondola from the Park City side. A simple quick ride up the Crescent chairlift, then down to the bottom of Silverlode, which is the home of the gondola’s Park City side base.

Wow! we just had another storm roll through and picked up a lot of the lake effect snow. Here in town in Prospector area we had about 5 inches of snow and the PCMR mountain has reported about a foot of snow. This time of year, the Cottonwood Canyons will get considerably more snow than the Park City resorts, so knowing this well, I did the drive over to Brighton. Quite a great day, they had about 18 inches of snow. Some of the steeper slopes you would hit the crusty bottom occasionally, but on the more mellow slopes you could enjoy the bottomless floating sensation.

Brighton Ski Resort, April 15, 2015

The big news is Snowbird is reporting about 30 inches for the day, and had nearly 4ft of snow for the storm total! You can see their "Monster Dump"…
