The Park City Hills Are Alive in September

It wasn't too long ago when Labor Day weekend signaled the true end of summer in Park City with the Miners’ Day celebrations being the last real event until the ski season. In recent years, our mountain resort town has evolved into a year-round mecca for activities and events. We are seeing the shortening of the fall shoulder season with the Park Silly Sunday Market continuing into summer and a host of new offerings to keep locals and visitors entertained. The weekend of September 13 is shaping up to be no exception with the annual Autumn Aloft hot air balloon festival and the inaugural Park City Songwriter Festival. The hills will come alive with music, vibrant balloons, and splendid fall colors.

Miners Day 2019 Festivities

While all good things come to an end, luckily here in Park City, we say goodbye to summer with a bang. Every year, the Park City community celebrates its mining heritage that began over 100 years ago. Miners’ Day is a festive opportunity to come together with friends and family and enjoy some food, fun, and sunshine. Here’s what you can look forward to on September 2nd!

Start your Miners’ Day with a free hearty breakfast in City Park, graciously provided by Saint Mary’s Catholic Church. Fill up on pancakes, eggs, hash browns and more! Breakfast will be served from 7:30 am to 9:30 am.

A New Ski Area Coming to Park City

Could Park City actually have two new ski resort villages in the works? Last week, there was much discussion about significant plans for both the Mayflower/Jordanelle side of Deer Valley and the Snow Park base area.

As we have recently reported, the Jordanelle area is booming. And it’s more than just real estate development. Last week, New York City-based developer Extell Development Company announced it will build the first major, full-service ski resort in America since 1980. Located adjacent to Deer Valley Resort on the Jordanelle side, Mayflower Mountain Resort may be operating as soon as the 2021 ski season.

World's Top Cyclists to Compete in Utah

Can’t make it overseas for the Tour de France? No problem! You can catch professional cycling competition during the Larry H. Miller Tour of Utah, one of the preeminent professional bicycle stage race events in North America. Taking place, August 12-18, the Tour follows the Tour de France and features some of the world’s top cyclists and teams. Seventeen professional squads will be riding in the race, including teams from seven countries such as the U.S., Canada, Germany and Mexico. This will mark the first Tour of Utah appearance for some of them. Park City Kimball Arts Festival Celebrates 50 Years

Art lovers rejoice! This year marks the 50th anniversary of the Park City Kimball Arts Festival, which will be held on Park City’s Main Street August 2-4. To mark this impressive milestone, entry to the Festival will be free all weekend long for Summit County residents. Register online and then bring your government-issued photo ID to the Kimball Art Center (1401 Kearns Blvd.) from July 15 to August 4 to pick up your complimentary wristband for entry. For those who are not residents of Summit County, tickets are just $12 for adults and $5 for kids and valid all weekend when purchased in advance here. Summer Concert Season Heats Up

We all know summer weather was slow to arrive, but now that it’s here, locals and visitors rejoice for outdoor summer concert season. Hundreds of performers will grace the various outdoor stages set to beautiful scenery around Park City. Many are free while some require ticket purchases. There is one new exception, however: the long-running Park City Institute’s Big Stars Bright Nights Series, which had its home at Deer Valley Resort for many years, is now forced to hold its concerts indoors at the Eccles Theater at Park City high school. Deer Valley will continue to host concerts by known national acts. Other outdoor venues include stages at Park City Mountain and Canyons Village, as well as High Star Ranch in Kamas.

The 4th of July Parade on Park City's historic Main Street is one of the premier events of the year. We highly recommend getting to Main Street extra early to reserve a space for seating. Bring a blanket, pop-up chairs, etc. You can even bring a cooler for drinks and snacks.

Park City Kicks Off Summer with Savor the Summit
