Its summertime in Park City and for those lucky enough to know, summer can be just as much fun (or more so) as our popular winter season. As we get through June, we typically see the mountain trails open up as the higher elevation snow finally melts away. For the past few weeks we have been mostly confined to the lower elevation trails for hiking and biking such as the very popular and easy Round Valley. Round Valley is a great choice for early and late season riding. It is at a lower elevation, and gets a lot of sun so the area dries out quickly and is one of the first locations to be ridable in spring.

Vail Resorts to take over Canyons in Park City Utah!

BIG NEWS in Park City this week!

Vail Resorts president and CEO Rob Katz announced Wednesday that the company had signed a long-term lease deal to operate the Canyons Ski Resort. Toronto-based Talisker Corp currently owns the ski resort and has leased the resort to Vail Resorts for 50 years, with an option for six 50-year extensions.

Vail Resorts’ Epic Pass will now include the Canyons Ski Resort in Park City, Utah.

The very popular Epic Pass offered by Vail Resorts affords it's passholders unlimited skiing and riding with no blackout dates at Vail, Beaver Creek, Breckenridge, Keystone, Heavenly, Northstar, Kirkwood, Afton Alps, Mt. If you have not spent much time here in Summer yet, you have got to give it a try, especially if you live somewhere hot, this is a great escape from the heat.

Park City's Mountain Trails get GOLD Rating

The International Mountain Bicycling Association (IMBA) recently named Park City a Gold Level Ride Center, making Park City the first town in the world to receive the honor!

As Park City Realtors we fully understand the importance of our amazing trails network. It is one of the most important aspects we get to boast about for our beloved town. We are members, and fully support the Mountain Trails Foundation. MTF is a non-profit organization that creates, and maintains trails throughout the Park City and Deer Valley area. Mountain Trail's director, Charlie Sturgis submitted Park City's application for the award. Goodbye Winter, Hello Summer

Park City's winter season is now over, with all three Park City ski resorts now closed. Even though we had much less snow this year, especially compared to the ultra amazing year we had last year, it was still a lot of fun.  Instead of snow, we did get a lot of sunny days on the mountain. And although we had less snow, we still had a couple really great days, so we cannot complain too much!

If you still have the desire to get out on snow, Brighton, Alta, and Snowbird are still open. Brighton and Alta will be closing soon, while Snowbird will stay open for at least a few more weeks. Snowbird usually remains open for a couple weeks after most resorts close, and then they switch to a weekends only schedule for the remaining few weeks. They will stay open…

Freestyle World Cup at Deer Valley Utah

Deer Valley will host the 2012 FIS Freestyle Ski World Cup event this season! Competitors from around the world will challenge each other and themselves on Deer Valley's 2002 Olympic runs. All events, including concerts, are free to the public. The festivities will begin February 1, 2012 with Robert Randolph and the Family Band playing on Lower Main Street in Park City.

Its amazing events like this that makes buying real estate in Park City and Deer Valley such a fun investment.

4 FEET of SNOW in Park City Ski Resorts

FINALLY!!! We just received about 4 feet of snow at all of our Park City, and northern Utah ski resorts. Its been a long wait, but better late than never!

The image below is from the KSL news broadcast showing the big snow totals from the storm. Powder Mountain and Snowbasin are about 50 minutes to the north. Alta is over by Snowbird in Little Cottonwood Canyon and only about 50 minutes away from Park City. They did not show Deer Valley or Park City on this list, but I did see a report showing Park City at 41 inches so far, and I had heard Deer Valley had a little more than Park City resort. I was up on McConkeys lift at Park City resort yesterday and there was an easy 2 feet of fresh on top of about a new 2 foot soft base. Many turns were bottomless,…
