Groundbreaking for Sunrise Gondola at Canyons Village

Park City Mountain is excited to announce its collaboration with CVMA on a transformative project to enhance guest experiences. The plan involves replacing the current Sunrise chairlift with a new 10-person gondola to facilitate better circulation and accessibility from Canyons Village to the Red Pine area.

Key features of the project include a 6,500-foot, 10-passenger gondola, with the base terminal strategically positioned near Pendry Park City and The Lift. Deer Valley's Lift 7 Receives Planning Commission Approval

On Wednesday, the Park City Planning Commission gave the green light to Deer Valley's proposal to install a new six-pack bubble lift on Park Peak. This marks a significant step forward for the ski resort's expansion plans, which aim to introduce nine new lifts and expand the terrain by roughly 3,000 acres before the winter of 2025-2026.

The newly approved lift, internally known as Lift 7, will start at the intersection of the Trump ski run and Ontario, whisking skiers to Park Peak. Deer Valley Extends Season - All Resort Closing Dates

Utah Ski Resorts Looking to Extend the Ski Season

Deer Valley Resort and Park City Mountain enjoyed a record February with over 100 inches of snow. With ski conditions so good and a base depth above average this year, a few of Utah's resorts have decided to extend their ski season an additional week or two. Closing day will now be on Sunday, April 21st, 2024, for Deer Valley Resort. Snowbasin also recently announced they will extend by two weeks to April 28th. A few Utah ski resorts have yet to commit to a closing day, but it will likely be between the 21st - and 28th. Snowbird typically runs the longest ski season, going into Memorial Day weekend. With sunny days and blue skies, there is nothing like spring skiing in Utah.

Tubing at Woodward Park City - Spring Season Fun

If you are looking for another fun option for the family while staying in Deer Valley and Park City, try the tubing park at Woodward Park City. Skiing and snowboarding at the resorts are likely how you spend most of your time on vacation here, but the family may also enjoy an afternoon of tubing. Tubing offers little kids and older generations an easy-to-do yet thrilling activity in the sun. Woodward is located near the Pinebrook and Summit Park communities of Park City, just off I-80 for easy access. You can book your day in advance with tickets starting at about $40 per person for a two-hour session. Snowiest February for Park City and Deer Valley Ski Resorts

As of February 23rd, Park City mountain ski resort reported that with 102" of snowfall for the month, that this is now officially the snowiest February on record! In February, PCMR's average snowfall is 61 inches. As of the 23rd, they were at 102 inches, with more to come in the remaining days of February. As of leap year day, Thursday, February 29th, the mountain is at a total of 299 inches year-to-date, with a base depth of 94".

Deer Valley Resort also recently reported they have broken their February snowfall record with 125.5 inches of snowfall. They are currently at 292" for the season with an 90 inch base depth.

Ski Magazine has recently posted the results from its reader survey, and after tallying the results, here are the Top 30 Resorts in the West (2024). The top two will surprise you for sure! We always expect to see our Utah resorts rank well, and this year us no exception, with seven Utah ski resorts in the Top 20.

No. 17: Brighton Resort, Utah
If you have not yet been to Brighton, for sure plan a visit. This is a small mom-and-pop style resort, with amazing terrain, and tons of snow. It may not be the steepest resort, but for sure is one of the most fun. Brighton does not have much for dining, shipping, nightlife or lodging, so keep this on your list as a good day-trip option.

Halloween Trick-or-Treat on Park City's Main Street!

Halloween is a tricky holiday for mountain town living. When October 31st comes around, good weather is not guaranteed. We have seen sunny, blue-sky, 80-degree days and freezing, blowing snowstorms. Starting trick-or-treat activities early in the day can be valuable, especially in colder years. Once the sun sets over the ridgeline, it can get quite cold quickly.

Deer Valley Resort Major Expansion Announcement

Deer Valley Resort® has just released news of a long-awaited announcement of a major ski terrain expansion and a new base village. Their "Expanded Excellence" will be a multi-year project expanding skiable terrain, skier services, and construction of a world-class, highly amenitized ski village at the base of Mayflower Mountain.

Deer Valley Resort® includes 2,026 acres, 103 runs, and 21 chairlifts over six mountains. The expansion will eventually add 3,700 acres, 135 runs, 16 chairlifts, and four mountains. The combined total is a whopping 5,726 acres, 238 runs, 37 chairlifts, spread over ten mountains in Utah's acclaimed Wasatch back.
