The first official day of Fall is Friday, September 22nd, however here in beautiful Park City it feels as if Fall has already arrived. The mountains are covered in rich reds, oranges and gold, making our usual beautiful landscape especially stunning. Before the snow flies (which will be soon) there are a few things you can do as a home owner to prepare for the quickly approaching winter months. Below is a helpful "to-do" list to get you ready.

While driving through Park City it's impossible not to notice the sights of the Utah Olympic Park with the infamous green ski jumps, which were built and used for the 2002 Winter Olympics.

The Utah Olympic Park is home to six Nordic ski jumps, where Olympians and skiers have practiced and competed ever since. Its crazy enough in its own right to watch athletes go down the jump time and time again, however on Saturday September 30th hundreds of competitors will be climbing up the jump for the Red Bull 400 event. While 400 meters may not seem like much (one lap on a regulation track) for the typical competitor, this race will start at the bottom of the K120 ski jump and continue up, as the competitors make their way towards the top of the jump it will become…

The evenings are beginning to cool, and the leaves are turning bright hues of yellow and orange. Fall is definitely in the air, and soon the morning sky will be dotted with hot air balloons. The Autumn Aloft will take place on September 16th & 17th at the North 40 Playing Fields.

The Autumn Aloft is a Park City fall classic. At dawn on Saturday and Sunday mornings, people can gather to watch as hot air balloons are filled, taking shape before they launch promptly at 8am. The sky will fill with more than 20 colorful balloons, while onlookers enjoy breakfast provided by Einstein Bros. Bagels. Many moons ago local dedicated mountain bikers would celebrate the end of summer and the upcoming fall season by riding a 7 mile stretch between City Park and Gaurdsmans Pass. In order to make the 2,700 verticle incline race more enticing, said riders would park a keg at the top of their climb. This annual event became the now known Tour De Suds. And to this day, even 38 years later, the event remains very much the same. This laid back and cheerful race attracts both competitive and non-competitive riders of all ages (kids under the age of 17 ride for free).

On Friday August 18th, KPCW will kick off their annual pledge drive with a Bang!! KPCW and Cole Sports are throwing a Back Alley Bash. And from the looks of the sponsor list, this is one bash you can't afford to miss. Sponsors will include Cole Sports, Budweiser, Kumbayah Kitchens, The Bridge Cafe, Town Lift Plaza, Davanza's, High West Distilleries, and Butcher's Chop House. The MARC in Park Meadows

The PC MARC (Park City Municipal Athletic & Recreation Center) is well known and very popular among Park City locals and seasonal visitors. The newly updated MARC building is found on Little Kate road in the neighborhood of Park Meadows. The spacious building and grounds feature 11 tennis courts, 4 pickle ball courts, a basketball gym, a bouldering wall where you can transverse nearly 50 linear feet and upwards of 12 feet. There is also an indoor track, which is great for those winter months we are so famous for here in Park City. Nations first all e-bike share program

Park City now has the bragging rights to the nations first all e-bike share program.  Summit County Councilman Roger Armstrong took his first e-bike ( pedal assisted electric motor) ride last summer and felt that this may be one of solutions needed to get people out of cars and trying alternative means of transportation,” he relates. On July 13 and 20, the Park City Council passed the approval of a purchase agreement for a 5.25-acre parcel in the City’s Bonanza Park neighborhood for $19.5 million to form the City’s first-ever Arts & Culture District, with Sundance Institute and the Kimball Art Center as anchor partners. Park City plans to impose a one-percent transient room (lodging) tax to pay for the initial land purchase and development of the site.
