FIS Freestyle World Cup Deer Valley

Sundance is still going on, and Park City, Utah is now gearing up to host yet another international event this weekend with plenty of snow in the forecast! The Sundance Film Festival will be wrapping up this weekend as Park City welcomes 1,300 teams of snowboarders, freestyle and freeski athletes from 40 different countries for the 2019 FIS World Championships. Events are held at Deer Valley Resort, Park City Mountain, Canyons Village and Solitude Mountain Resort. And for some additional good news, the events are free and open to the public.

Come prepared to get your own adrenaline pumping, as you watch bronze world medalist Jaelin Kauf fly down the slope taking moguls on like they aren’t even an obstacle. How about the thrill of watching

Sundance Film Festival

Park City is a buzz as it readies to once again be in the international spotlight. The Sundance Film Festival kicks off January 24 and will run thru February 3. For the locals, this is a great time to hit the slopes as the majority of folks in town will be on Main Street and at the many film screening venues. Prepare for heavy traffic and crowds with more than 124,000 people expected to attend the festival, and some cutting-edge films to view. Be sure to take advantage of the free Park City Transit to get around town! The buses also serve as an entertaining way to mingle with festival goers.

Salt Lake City Olympics

Last year closed with a huge announcement for Utah with the U.S. Olympic Committee choosing Salt Lake City over Denver as the official U.S. bid city to host the 2030 Olympic Winter Games. And Utahns seem to be thrilled about the prospect of once again welcoming the world just 28 years after the 2002 Salt Lake City Olympic Winter Games! Home to the Greatest Snow on Earth, Utah is poised to be a contender for the 2026 (to be in the running for 2030, the USOC must enter the bid for 2026) and 2030 games.

A recent poll posted on the Salt Lake Tribune on Feb.7, 2018 indicated the majority were on board for hosting another Olympics.

Park City Mountain New Year's Fireworks 

With the ski season off to a stellar start in Utah, Park City Mountain already has 100 trails open with packed powder conditions, thanks to 46-inches of snowfall already received. Now, that’s reason to celebrate! The Vail-owned resort has lined up a festive, 16-day Snowfest, beginning on December 22. A plethora of events offer wintertime fun for local and visiting families. Activities include live music during apres ski, the annual Torchlight Parade, holiday-themed crafts, and meet and greets with the resort’s avalanche dogs. And new this year is the First Friday Fireworks display each month of the ski season.
