Recent years have witnessed its growth into a vibrant, highly-walkable resort town center that features enticing shopping opportunities, renowned restaurants and a multitude of nightclubs. The spectacular buildings and storied past of Old Town's legendary Historic District provide variation to area home styles and further reinforce the neighborhood's authenticity.
Old Town Charm
Park City’s bustling Old Town district remains the emotional heart of the town, just as it was over 100 years ago. Since the neighborhood was platted in the 19th century, lots tend to be smaller, lending the area a walkable layout and a vibrant energy. Old Town holds much of Park City’s rich history; sixty-four buildings are included in the National Register of Historic Places, many of those on Park City’s colorful Main Street.
Amenities in Old Town
Lined with restaurants, art galleries, nightclubs and boutique shops, Main Street is the cultural and culinary center of Park City. What’s more, the Town Lift of Park City Mountain Resort connects skiers and snowboarders directly to the base of Main Street. Winter ski trails and summer hiking trails can be accessed right from the streets of Old Town, too, making it a year-round recreational haven. Homes in Old Town range from restored Victorian-era miner’s cottages, to contemporary condos, to exquisite new construction.
Old Town Real Estate Options
A particularly well-known area within Old Town is the "Gold Coast," the coveted ski-in/ski-out homes that back up onto the Town Lift runs of Park City Mountain Resort®. The cozy renovated miners' cottages located near City Park, just off Park Avenue, are recognized as some of the best values in Old Town. There are a handful of apartments located in the upper levels of certain Main Street buildings, while Daly Avenue features a funky and eclectic mix of restored miners' cottages, apartment buildings and renovated bungalows.

The "Ski Side" of Old Town
This is the side of Old Town that is on the West side of Main Street, between Main Street and Park City Mountain Resort. Many home sin this location are adjacent to, or a very easy walk to Park City Mountain Resort and therefore this side of Old Town is called the "ski side" of Old Town.
The most sought after properties are homes that are located close to the ski run or Town ski lift, and even better yet the homes that are actually right on the run, offering a ski-in, ski-out location. Many of these homes are also close to Main Street, making it an easy walk. If you can find something that is very close to both, you have the best of both worlds.
The Historic Elements of Old Town
Most available properties in this area are single family homes. Old Town was subdivided back in the old mining days and all the lots are quite narrow. A normal Old Tows lot is 25 feet wide x 75 feet deep. Some homes are built on only a single lot, some on 1.5 lots, and even more rare is to find homes on 2 lots. The narrow homes are similar to what you might find in a beach resort town, where the higher density is common near the oceans and beaches. You can also find great townhome and condo options. There is a "mixed bag" of product in Old Town, part of its charm. You'll find brand new, luxury homes right next to old and weathered miner's cottages. You can also find many rebuilt and restored historic homes. Old Town is in a protected historic district and the guidelines to remodel, rebuild these historic gems are quite tight, and in fact have become even more restrictive over the years in an attempt to protect the neighborhood and maintain the old mining town character.
The "Sunny Side" of Old Town
This is the side of Old Town that is on the East side of Main Street, and gets all the afternoon sun - therefore called the "sunny side". This location enjoys big views looking back into Old Town, Main Street and Park City Mountain Resort. Homes here can be an easy walk to Main Street using Shorty's Stairs. If you want the big views, and want to be close to the shopping, dining, and nightlife of Main Street, this may be the location for you.
Most available properties are single family homes, some historic homes, and a few townhomes, but really no condos on this side of Old Town.
For all seasons, Winter, Spring, Summer and Fall, there is no better place to own property in Park City!
