Park City Kimball Arts Festival

Art lovers rejoice! This year marks the 50th anniversary of the Park City Kimball Arts Festival, which will be held on Park City’s Main Street August 2-4. To mark this impressive milestone, entry to the Festival will be free all weekend long for Summit County residents. Register online and then bring your government-issued photo ID to the Kimball Art Center (1401 Kearns Blvd.) from July 15 to August 4 to pick up your complimentary wristband for entry. For those who are not residents of Summit County, tickets are just $12 for adults and $5 for kids and valid all weekend when purchased in advance here. This is the largest annual fundraiser for the Kimball Art Center, so even if you get a free ticket, a donation will surely be appreciated upon entry to the Fest.

More than 1,000 artist entries were submitted for what is often considered one of the top arts festivals in the United States. 225 were selected from three countries and 33 states to showcase and sell their works from booths that line Historic Main Street. Expect to find a diverse array of art that includes pottery, sculpture, mixed media, painting, jewelry and photography. It’s always fascinating to speak with the artists about their works while browsing their creations in addition to purchasing a unique piece that will be a meaningful addition to your collection.

And many of us in Park City consider food to be a fine art as well! There is no shortage of culinary delights during the Arts Fest. Local food trucks like Freshies Lobster Co., Banh Mi Time, Black’s Sliders, and Garden O’Veaten will be on hand to feed hungry festival goers as will the many award-winning Main Street eateries. Park City Brewery and Vida Tequila will quench your thirst with adult beverages.

Take advantage of the opportunity for you and your kids to discover your inner artist with various interactive programming at the Studio on Main. Painting on a small canvas, binding a travel journal, and creating a watercolor postcard from Park City are just a few of the offerings. There is also the Kids’ Art Area where your little ones can begin developing their appreciation for art with face painting, Claymation, and designing their own bandanas and bracelets.

The Park City Kimball Arts Festival is not just limited to visual arts. Live music performances from more than 30 acts will take place on three stages along Main Street – Heber Avenue, Miner’s Stage, and the Brew Pub Stage.

Friday evening has traditionally been the most popular time for Park City locals to visit the Arts Fest. It’s a fun opportunity to mingle with friends and neighbors before the big weekend crowds arrive. Whenever you decide to go, enjoy this wonderful Park City tradition. Happy Arts Festing!
