Halloween in Park City

Few communities take Halloween as seriously as Park City. We are a town that loves to have fun, let loose, and get super creative with costumes. Halloween in Park City is for all – kids, adults, and dogs! Historic Main Street is the hub of the celebrations, which are always held on Halloween, no matter what day of the week that happens to be. This year it’s a Wednesday, and we can’t think of a better way to spend hump day. It’s a locals’ spooktacular, and you’re guaranteed to run into all your friends, neighbors, and coworkers.

The Main Street festivities begin with trick-or-treating at the local merchants that line the street. It’s followed by the Howl-o-ween dog parade – an incredible, furry spectacle that has garnered national attention. Whether you show up with your kids, dogs, or both, you’re guaranteed to have a blast.

Below is the schedule of events:

3:00-5:00 p.m. Trick-or-Treating: Costumed kids flock to Main Street for fun and safe trick-or-treating, scoring candy from local merchants. Parents can always be counted on to steel a few pieced.

5:00 p.m. Dog Parade on Lower Main Street: Leashed, costumed dogs and their owners will meet below the Lower Main Street Pedestrian bridge at 4:45 p.m. The parade will begin at 5:00 p.m., matching to Heber Avenue.

The Devil is in the Details:

  • Main Street will be closed to traffic beginning at 2 p.m.
  • Public transit is strongly encouraged (note: pets are not allowed on buses). Or walk or bike, weather permitting.
  • Complimentary parking is available at Deer Valley Resort, Park City Mountain, and the Park City School District from where free public transit to Main Street is offered.
  • Parking will be $10 in the China Bridge parking structure.

Not ready to call it quits after the official Main Street festivities? Several bars are known to have fun parties and cash prizes for best costumes. Check out The Spur Bar & Grill, No Name Saloon, The Cabin, and Downstairs, to name a few!

Once you’ve worn your Halloween costume, it’s time to get outfitted for ski season! Another annual tradition that follows Halloween is the Park City Ski Swap & Sale. One of the country’s oldest and largest ski swaps, it will be held November 2 to 4 at the Basin Recreation Fieldhouse. Head over for amazing deals on new and gently used winter sports gear and clothing. If you’re serious about getting gear, join the line on Friday. It becomes slim pickings later in the weekend.

Hours: Fri 8 p.m.-1 a.m., Sat 10 a.m.-6 p.m., Sun 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
Entry Price: Fri $10, Sat $5, Sun $2 (12 & under free)
