Many moons ago local dedicated mountain bikers would celebrate the end of summer and the upcoming fall season by riding a 7 mile stretch between City Park and Gaurdsmans Pass. In order to make the 2,700 verticle incline race more enticing, said riders would park a keg at the top of their climb. This annual event became the now known Tour De Suds. And to this day, even 38 years later, the event remains very much the same. This laid back and cheerful race attracts both competitive and non-competitive riders of all ages (kids under the age of 17 ride for free).

Finishing times range from forty seven minuets to just over two and a half hours. The only aspect that is consistent in all the riders is the hilarious and often over the top costumes worn by the…

park city's new electric bike share program

Nations first all e-bike share program

Park City now has the bragging rights to the nations first all e-bike share program.  Summit County Councilman Roger Armstrong took his first e-bike ( pedal assisted electric motor) ride last summer and felt that this may be one of solutions needed to get people out of cars and trying alternative means of transportation,” he relates. This summer, thanks in part to a $500,000 grant landed by Summit County staff and the Utah Transit Authority, Armstrong’s alternative transit vision becomes reality with the launch of Utah’s first e-bike share in Park City.  There will be approximately 88 Bewegen e-bikes distributed between nine stations: four at Kimball Junction, one at Canyons Transit Center, and four within

Sothebys July 4th party in Park City Utah

If you have ever spent a July 4th holiday here in Park City, you know the locals take this day of celebration quite seriously. The best bet is to make your way up to Main Street by about 10am, after the pancake breakfast in City Park. Find a spot on Main Street, or meander through the crowd and enjoy the parade and running into many people you know, or meet new friends. As the parade ends, the crowd funnels down to City Park and there you're likely to remain for hours, probably much longer then you'll have intended. There is nothing quite like Independence Day in Park City!

While up on Main Street, be sure to stop by our Sotheby's 625 Main Street office. Doors open at 10AM. We'll have a light breakfast, coffee and refreshing beverages.

A major milestone has been announced for Bonanza Flats. So many in our community have come together to help save 1,350 acres of backcountry access, wildlife, forests & trails along Guardsman Pass.

Park City plans to move forward with purchasing Bonanza Flats. The acquisition, unanimously approved by the Park City Council, would be financed in part by a $25 million bond Park City voters approved in November. Some of the balance would come from donations raised by Utah Open Lands and other conservation groups that have joined forces to help conserve Bonanza Flats.

After so much work, and uncertainty, no longer will this landscape be in plans for a destination ski and golf development. Bonanza Flats is a large area of land that sits behind Park

Here is a great mountain bike ride I would recommend to anyone looking for a long and fun loop. This recommended ride starts with Jenni's Trail at Park City Ski Resort. Jenni's heads up to Mid-Mountain Trail. Then you'll come back down the very fun and fast Deer Crest Trail.

The photo below is from the recently built and popular Jenni's Trail at Park City ski resort. This trail begins at the bottom of the resort near the first time ski lift. You can park at the base parking lots of Park City resort. The trail works its way up hill, all across the ski runs under some of the ski lifts and ends near the top drop off point of the town ski lift. Jenni's is a good upward climb, rarely levels off so its a bit of a grind but not too rocky or difficult. It

Will Our Dream Finally Come True?

For many of us in Park City, we have dreamed of the opportunity to ski and snowboard from Deer Valley to Park City to the Canyons. It would be amazing to have one ski pass to access all three of our resorts. Even if not connected, just the ability to have one shared pass and the choice of going to each of the resorts on any given day would be wonderful. We all have friends who each year make a choice of which single resort they will buy their season pass too. Often, we miss skiing with good friends because we have our pass at one resort, while they are at another. With the price of lift tickets, its rare to go buy a ticket at a ski resort for a day, when you already have a season pass at another.

"Best Town Ever" According to Outside Magazine readers who voted for the Best Town in America to Live for 2013. Park City appears on the cover of the magazine, showcasing a mountain biker on the Lost Prospector trail overlooking Old Town Park City. The cover says: "America's Best Towns. 18 Perfect Places to Live".

To find the winner they started with the American College of Sports Medicine's annual list of the country's 50 healthiest cities, then added a few small and mid-sized towns that the metro-centric pool had overlooked. Next they went to the experts, the true experts. They called on runners, bikers, surfers and climbers to help narrow the finalists to the top ten list where it's easy to eat healthy, find work, quickly access great trails,

We often are asked "Where is a great place to hike in Park City?" So, we finally have gotten out ourselves and have been exploring some great hikes that have been recommended to us over the years. As an avid mountain biker and skateboarder, I simply have not dedicated much time to hiking. Wow! Was I amazed to find a few of these great hikes that we have right in our backyard. A few weeks ago we posted about a great hike off of Guardsman Pass going up the ridge to Peak 10,420'. It was a beautiful high elevation hike with distant views. And that was only the tip of the iceberg!

Lake Mary at Brighton Ski Resort

We recently went over to Brighton ski resort to hike up the Lake Mary Trail. It was so amazing, that we went back the next day and did the
