Halloween on Historic Main Street in Park City

The town of Park city loves Halloween. Residents including parents, kids and dogs gather each year on historic Main Street for a safe trick-or-treating location and the KSL Howl-O-Ween Costume Contest. The city closes down Main Street to vehicles and creates a large pedestrian friendly environment allowing for easy and safe trick-or-treating. The Halloween festivities on Park City's Historic Main Street has been named one of the top Halloween celebrations in the country by Travel and Leisure magazine.

Parking:
Main Street will be closed to vehicular traffic at 1:30 p.m. on Halloween, so be sure to remove your car or the police may move it for you. Parking near the Main Street area can be tough so carpool if possible. The China Bridge parking structure fills up fast and it is best to access China Bridge from Marsac as Swede Alley gets backed up quickly. City Park offers additional nearby parking. This is a great location to park with your dogs as you get an opportunity to walk them up to main street, which can help to burn off some of their energy before they get over stimulated with all the other dogs and excitement. The free park city bus system is another great way to get up to Main Street. Due to federal regulations dogs are not allowed on Park City public buses.

Times:
Trick-or-treating for children will begin at 3:00 p.m. and end by 5:00pm. This is a great way for the kids to get out, see all their friends and for the parents to meet and greet with one another as well. Halloween in Park city can often be quite cold, so this timeframe gives the best opportunity for warmer weather so the kids can show off their costumes rather than being bundled up with jackets and hats.

The Howl-O-Ween Dog Party runs from 5 to 6pm. Once the kids have had their fun from 3 to 5 the dogs are welcome to join in. If you think the kids have amazing costumes just wait until you see what some of the doggie parents do to their four-legged family members! Just remember to bring a leash for your puppy.

For both the kids and dogs costume contests, finalists will be selected at random during the event. Main Street will reopen between 6 - 7 p.m. to vehicular traffic.

We look forward to seeing you Friday afternoon for a safe and fun Halloween in Historic Park City.
