fall colors in park city's old town neighborhood

The first official day of Fall is Friday, September 22nd, however here in beautiful Park City it feels as if Fall has already arrived. The mountains are covered in rich reds, oranges and gold, making our usual beautiful landscape especially stunning. Before the snow flies (which will be soon) there are a few things you can do as a home owner to prepare for the quickly approaching winter months. Below is a helpful "to-do" list to get you ready.

Fall To-Do List

INTERIOR ITEMS
- Dust ceiling fans and ceiling light fixtures
- Wash the windows
- Schedule furnace tune-up and replace air filters
- Test smoke and carbon monoxide detectors
- Check windows and doors for weather-tightness
- Clean out dryer vent
- Drain sediment from hot water heater
- Rotate/flip mattress
- Wash bedskirts/covers/pads
- Wash curtains/blinds
- Begin organizing tax-related documents
- Clean oven
- Wash shower curtains and liners
- Clean out refrigerator
- Clean out entryway closet
- Tidy up and organize pantry and cabinets

EXTERIOR ITEMS
- Clean downspouts and gutters
- Wash the windows
- Turn off exterior faucets
- Remove leaves from around your AC unit
- Store outdoor furniture and cushions
- Inspect chimney and roof for cracks and damage
- Cut back perennial plants and mulch around the base
- Remove hoses from spigots and drain water
- Schedule sprinkler blow-outs and winterizing
- Test snow blower and service if necessary
- Stow the lawn mower
- Dust and scrub porch

And don't forget while doing these necessary (not-so-fun) tasks, to enjoy the Fall weather. Take in a football game or two, carve a pumpkin, walk in the fall colors, and enjoy a cup of warm cider. The Fall season is quite short here in Park City, and  the snow will be here soon!
