Heli & Cat Skiing
Other than the Brooks Range in Alaska, the Uinta Mountain Range is the most prominent
east/west range in the United States with almost a dozen peaks exceeding 13,000
feet. The Uinta Wilderness encompasses 457,000 acres of mountainous terrain
with 40,000 acres of its best ski terrain right in our own backyard! With a
base of operations at 7,600 feet to the soaring top of Windy Peak at nearly
11,000 feet, Park City Powder Cats and Heli-ski, Inc. is able to provide a
wide variety of terrain that includes incredible open bowls, steep chutes and
some of the best tree skiing in all of Utah.
Snow Tubing... Fun for the whole
family!
Now entering it's seventh season, Gorgoza Park offers lighted, lift-served tubing
and mini snowmobiles. It's a great adventure for all ages. And, when it gets
a little chilly you can head to our warming yurt for snacks and to rest up for
more fun.
Now, what sets this resort apart from other tubing facilities
is the lack of work needed to have fun. No more climbing up
the hills to reach your preferred starting point. At Gorgoza
Park, all you have to do is sit down on your tube and let a
tow cable pull you to the top of the mountain. The smooth ride
up the hill is fast and enjoyable and the rest it provided
while heading to the top made it as pleasurable as the ride
down the slope. The only required work is standing up and walking
back to the beginning of the tow-ride. Gorgoza Park is conveniently
located off I-80 and easy to get to.
Cross-Country Skiing
Cross-country
skiing on groomed trails is a favorite winter sport in Park
City. In addition, Park City has hundreds of roads and trails
in its National Forests and on BLM land which are ideal for
cross-country skiing. There are mountain top routes, tracks
through snow-dusted red rock, historic trails... even some
of our snowed-in golf courses get into the act. Backcountry
skiers should be well-prepared, and should check weather
and avalanche forecasts prior to setting out. Many agree
that Utah's backcountry is some of the most accessible and
has the best snow. Park City offers several options for this
demanding and fulfilling sport. Try out our groomed trails
or take a custom tour under the Rocky Mountain skyline.
White Pine Touring operates an 18 km cross-country ski center
in the heart of Park City. Enjoy the spectacular mountain views
along one of three groomed loops. With 3k, 5k and 10k loops,
they are perfect for the beginner, intermediate and advanced
classic or skate skier. Heated underground parking, passes,
equipment and lessons are all offered on site.
Snowmobiling the
Rocky Mountains
With over 800 miles of groomed snowmobiling trails from the
red rock canyons of Southern Utah to the rugged mountains
in the Northern reaches of the state, Utah has plenty of
snowmobiling options. Eight unique snowmobiling complexes
are located across the state with interlinking trail systems.
For those who prefer powder, there are thousands of acres
of high-mountain bowls that can be accessed from the groomed
complexes. Whatever your reasons for snowmobiling, you will
find endless opportunities in Utah's mountains. As the advertisement
says, "If your adrenaline doesn't leave you breathless,
the scenery will."
Snow Shoeing is a walk in the
park... with some elevation!
The Utah landscape provides many opportunities for snowshoe
enthusiasts. Bring your own, or rent from one of many providers.
Snowshoeing provides a simple, cheap and easy way to experience
the state's snow and mountains. You don't have to go far to
view our snow-capped Rocky Mountain peaks as Mother Nature
intended. Strap on some snowshoes and experience the undisturbed
slopes and trails first-hand, and get a great workout at the
same time.
