Golfing
In and Around Park City
It's hard to imagine a better setting
for a game of golf. Breathtaking mountain vistas, cool
dry breezes and more blue sky days than you'll find at
almost any elevation. Maybe that's why the Park City area
is becoming a renowned golf destination offering a variety
of 18-hole championship courses. Add guaranteed tee times*
and the opportunity to book 60 days in advance through
select lodging properties, and you'll wonder why you've
never played here before.
*Tee times greater than seven days
in advance are only available through a participating lodging
property. Please refer to the lodging chart below for participating
properties. Seven days or less can be booked directly with
the public golf courses.
Park City Golf Club
Consistently
ranked as one of the premier public golf courses in the intermountain
region, Park City Golf Club offers a challenging game at one
of the state's most enviable locations. First built in 1963 as
a nine-hole course, this William Neff, signature golf course
was redesigned to its current 18-holes in 1976. n 2003 the course
opened with the #18 redesigned by William Neff Jr., and is now
one of the best classic finishing holes in Utah.
In addition to providing professionally
designed and well kept greens, Park City Golf Club's elevation
of 6700 feet can actually add distance to your shots while
you play on a course that is typically 10 to 15 degrees cooler
than most courses in the area-a definite bonus during the hot
summer months.
Wasatch
Mountain Golf
Mountain Course: Spectacular
Wasatch Mountain State Park boasts a challenging 18-hole Mountain
Course, carved from natural mountain contours. In a golf cart
(mandatory), there will be occasional sightings of roaming
deer, elk, wild turkeys, moose and other wildlife. You'll reach
vantage points overlooking the beautiful Heber Valley below.
Lake Course: Also at Wasatch Mountain
State Park, on gentler terrain, where surrounding mountains slope
away to the valley floor, lays the 18-hole Lake Course. Its season-long
pastoral beauty, with tree lined fairways and eight lakes and
ponds, offers just the right setting to make the Lake Course
a favorite for high, low and "no" handicappers.
Soldier Hollow Golf Course
Soldier Hollow's two mountain golf courses are the newest addition
to the Wasatch Mountain State Park. The championship, 36-hole
facility completes the year-round recreation programs at the
2002 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games venue. Two 18-hole
courses; appropriately named the Gold and Silver courses; offer
challenging play for golfers of all abilities and amazing views
of the Heber Valley and majestic Mount Timpanogos. Golfers
and non-golfers alike will enjoy the beauty of the facilities,
the new clubhouse with floor-to-ceiling windows and the onsite
restaurant serving breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Gene
Bates Golf Design provided the unique design, which boasts native
Utah vegetation, one of the longest courses in the state and
the originality of being the only golf course built on an Olympic
venue. Along with other Bates' projects; from Florida's wetlands
to the coastal regions of California and the rocky desert of
southern Utah to the Green Mountains of Vermont; Soldier Hollow's
36-hole complex is sure to become a favorite Utah golf destination.
