A Guide to the Kids Playgrounds in Park City Utah

Park City is well known for its "Greatest Snow on Earth" and world-class ski resorts. Park City has also recently become world famous as the only "Gold Rated" mountain biking town, honoring our amazing mountain trails that encompass our ski resorts and link together all throughout town. But skiing and mountain biking are all mostly for the adults or older kids. For the younger kids, toddlers and kids up to age 10, Park City has expanded its offerings of kids playgrounds at its parks. Below is a guide to the five best playgrounds in Park City - located at Creekside Park, Willow Creek Park, City Park, Prospector Park and Trailside Park.

Creekside Park in Park Meadows

Creekside Park is located in the sought after community of Park Meadows, near the entrance to the community on Holiday Ranch Loop Road. This park has a bright and colorful playground with features ideal for toddlers as well as the older kids. There is easy and close parking right next to the playground, and public bathrooms. Also nearby the park is the new bike dirt park with a series of small to massive dirt jumps for bmx and mountain bikers, just like what you would see on TV during the summer X Games. Dogs are not allowed at Creekside Park.

Willow Creek Park in the Old Ranch Road Area

Willow Creek park is sort of the king of parks in the greater Park City area. This park is located on Split Rail Lane just off of Old Ranch Road at the entrance to the very popular Willow Creek neighborhood. The park has been one of the major selling points for this community. Featured in the park is abundant parking and numerous restrooms. There is an assortment of playground equipment for all ages, and plenty of shaded areas including large pavilion for the parents to relax and watch the kids play. Also within this park are large soccer fields with many scheduled games and events. For the dogs, Willow Creek has the best dog park with plenty of room for the pups to run and play, and even has a large pond with a dock for the dogs to run and jump off of. Bring the kids and the dogs for an eventful evening!

City Park in Old Town Park City

City Park is located in the Old Town area of Park City, Utah - Park City's downtown community. This park has been upgraded a few years ago and is fully fenced in so the little ones cannot run out to the parking lot - very safe. Also, this park has some well grown trees that provide an abundance of shade. The playground shares parking with the rest of City Park which offers many activities and scheduled sports and events. Located in the park are baseball fields, football fields, a pavilion for music, a BBQ area, public bathrooms and the Park City skatepark. This is a busy area, and provides many fun activities for all ages. There are also kids day camps available. For more info on those, you can contact PCRecreation at 435-615-5440. Dogs are not allowed in the playground area, but are allowed in City Park.

Prospector Park in the Prospector Community

Prospector Park is a new addition located at the eastern end of the Prospector community. It is located at the entrance to the neighborhood on Wyatt Earp Way just off of Kearns Blvd (as you head out of town and pass the schools). This is a smaller park, but it does offer fun features for little toddlers and even older kids. There is a water fountain, but no bathrooms. And there are a few covered areas to provide some shade. There is also a large grass area where people often bring their dogs to play, and the grass area is next to a small pond that most dogs just love to jump in. The popular Rail Trail is also next to the park.

Trailside Park in the Trailside Community

The Trailside Park community is a great new addition to Park City, and has been a popular neighborhood for families moving to Park City over the years. The park is located across from the Trailside Elementary School on Trailside Drive. The park has a couple large playgrounds geared more for the younger kids. There is a large pavilion for parents to relax in the shade, and also public restrooms and water fountain. The large park also offers newly built tennis courts, basketball courts, a small skatepark, and a really cool mountain biking flow park featuring berm turns, dirt jumps and large riding features built of wood.
