Deer Valley Ranked No.1 Resort in North America.

It’s been six long years since Deer Valley held the No.1 spot on Ski Magazine's Resort guide - “Best in the West” list. Well that has now changed as Deer Valley has reclaimed the coveted top spot.

For the resort’s many return visitors, the Deer Valley experience itself is much like that of a cherished sweater: Comfortable. Familiar. Welcoming. “Deer Valley is the ‘easy button’ of ski resorts,” chimes one Ski Magazine reader. “All-around outstanding resort,” says another. This season, however, the longtime-family-owned resort ventures away from the familiar as it’s acquired by a new entity controlled by KSL Partners and the owners of Aspen Ski Company. Can it retain its Deer Valley-ness? We believe so. Because that’s what sets it apart from other resorts. With such a strong model of success, we can't imagine much change from the new ownership - at least on the front end or the guest experience. And actually, the resort is well known for such a great employee care environment, so we would be surprised to such much change behind the scenes as well.

Founder Edgar B. Stern conceived Deer Valley as a place where customer service reigned supreme. Why can’t a ski resort offer the type of five-star service found at a hotel, he asked. Turns out it can. Top scores in Grooming, Lodging, and of course, Service, support Stern’s vision. Deer Valley also nabbed the coveted No. 1 Family Resort amidst some stiff competition, a likely result of a great ski school and that pervasive all-guests-are-family vibe (“Skiing here is like coming home”). The resort gets knocked for Challenge, though one reader disagrees: “People think Deer Valley does not have extreme terrain — they just don’t know where to find it.” But whether you come for the F&B (“blueberry mojito: two thumbs up”), the lack of knuckle-draggers (“no snowboarders are a big plus!”), proximity to “fun, funky, nearby Park City,” or the best grooming in North America, your needs are sure to be met.

Deer Valley is the standard to which all other resorts should aspire.

Deer Valley offers the best in everything - there are several late-night hangout spots such as the Terrace Café at the St. Regis with a view of the stunning Fire Garden, where you can soak in the sizzling vibes. The best Aprés spot in Deer Valley can be found at the iconic Goldener Hirsch Inn restaurant in the heart of Silver Lake Village. And don’t forget to make dinner reservations for The Mariposa at the Silver Lake Lodge, which features excellent small plates and a thoughtfully chosen wine list. Congrats to Deer Valley on securing this No.1 spot again, now we just need the snow to fly so we can get this ski season underway!
