Major mountain biking and hiking trails run throughout the
Park City resorts as well through town and the surrounding
areas. There is something for everyone.
Rated by Mtn. Bike Action magazine as one of the ten best
mountain destinations, Deer Valley Resort has over 50 miles
of panoramic single and double track trails. The lift-serviced
area offers great hiking, biking and scenic rides up this spectacular
mountain range. True to the high-level of service and care
at Deer Valley, very few other trails are kept in quite as
nice condition. With fun, challenging and scenic rides, there
are many options for all ability level in your group. A summer
trip in Park City is not complete without a day of lift serviced
biking at Deer Valley.
Park City Mountain Resort offers 32-plus miles of hiking and
biking trails through weathered mine buildings and historic
relics. The resort's Spiro Trail is becoming one of the most
popular trails in town – a heart pounding ride that can
take you up to the popular mid-mountain trail. Other frequented
trails include the Silver King Loop, Scott's Pass Trail, Thaynes
/ Jupiter Loop, Walker / Webster Trails and the Wasatch Crest
Rail Access. The Sweeney Switchbacks and Shadow Lake Loop trails
give more skilled mountain bikers a challenge.
The majestic peaks of The Canyons® Resort are accessible
for hiking through its gondola. All three resorts can be visited
within one day along either the famous Ridge Ride Trail or
the Mid-Mountain Trail.
With meandering streams and picturesque landscape, the Quarry
Mountain Trail, as well as the many popular trails encompassing
the Round Valley area are local family favorites. The Rail
Trail allows not only bikes, but horseback riders, joggers,
and nature walkers. The route is 15 miles of mostly flat, gentle,
paved, dirt and gravel public trail. The project was initially
a nationwide project that helps convert abandoned rail lines
into recreational purposes. It takes riders from Park City's
historic district and then leads out of town through various
farming communities until reaching the town of Coalville 15
miles away.
If you are looking for a great scenic drive and hike, try
heading up Mirror Lake Highway. A true mountain road experience
that starts from the nearby town of Kamas, and heads deep into
the Uinta Mountains. Upon reaching the Summit, there are many
great hikes noted by signs on the main road. Be sure to stop
by the beautiful Provo Falls on your way up or down from the
summit. The views are breathtaking, and is a great way for
the entire family to spend the day together. |
